Why DOUGLAS IS RUNNING

A Supreme Court Justice should put children FIRST over all cases, and a Supreme Court Justice should prioritize the welfare of West Virginia children and families when limited by budgetary constraints. I am particularly sensitive to the requirements for properly funding Foster Families and Guardians ad Litem, who are attorney champions and who give voice to children in domestic relations cases. Lastly, the duty of a Supreme Court Justice is to give deference and reverence to the predictability function of the law, and to follow the procedural rules. Doing the right thing daily, will be my daily motto.

My heart and soul lies with family law. Kids, grandparents and family issues in general must be moved to the front of litigation line. Finally, the Supreme Court needs someone not only with general practical experience, but also, someone who has FAMILY LAW experience. In short, the Supreme Court desperately needs someone who will work, and who knows how, to emphasize the welfare of children and advance the needs for foster care and guardians, and who will not be afraid to give voice to doing the right thing. I am that Someone.
